How I've Changed

When I arrived at HDS, I was overwhelmed with fatigue and self-doubt. Discerning my academic interests as well as becoming comfortable with my own identity and purpose has shown me that my best has always been enough. I have learned not to take myself so seriously, as the experience of joy is the heart of tangible divinity on earth.

Message of Thanks

My dad told me every day of childhood to be a leader, but I took a long time to discover what that looks like in my life. It’s not about speaking the loudest or being the greatest; leadership is about uplifting the divinity within those around you. My mom taught me in every situation that I cannot assume what another person is going through. I have often forgotten this truth but am always glad when it has reminded me to be gracious. Both of these lessons led me to HDS, a unique community of people that inspires me every day with each person's commitment to restoring the world. Lastly, my most endless gratitude goes to my husband, Zac, who has proofread every paper I’ve submitted, listened to countless virtual lectures, and spent every day making my life easier so that I can focus on schoolwork. He deserves an honorary degree.

Future Plans

Zac and I are moving to Nashville, where we will welcome our first child in a few months. I hope to eventually find an avenue for writing and editing, specifically in ways that bring others pleasure and continue my lifelong quest for learning. I plan to center radical hospitality in however life may manifest.
