Graduate Profile: Christian Maloney, MTS '24
Memorable Moment
I have had the good fortune to play violin in a number of musical ensembles at Harvard. This spring, I performed with the Lowell House Opera in their world premiere of "The Unknowable." It was a privilege to work alongside outstanding dancers, vocalists, and string players.
Favorite Class or Professor
My favorite class at HDS was Professor Levenson’s seminar on the "Aqedah" in fall 2023. We not only explored Genesis 22’s innumerable intricacies, but translated and analyzed a sizeable portion of rabbinic literature. I am grateful to have enjoyed Professor Levenson’s insights and humor over the past two years in both class and conversation. I strongly suspect that I have yet to take my final course with him.
Message of Thanks
I would like to thank the wonderful teachers who have helped me strengthen my understanding of the biblical text and the Hebrew language, particularly professors Levenson, Teeter, Reed, and Kline. I would also like to thank my friends at Harvard and buddies from Williams in Boston: I so appreciate their constant willingness to hear my thoughts on Genesis over a beer.
Future Plans
I intend to continue my studies at the Rothberg International School in fall 2024. My love of biblical literature and theology has grown ever stronger during my time at HDS; I have no intention of calling it quits.
