Graduate Profile: Joe Rosales, MTS '24
How I've Changed
My perception of the self, of my various communities, and of humanity has shifted for the positive. I feel more worldly as I continue to venture on my journey to eventually teach wherever the Lord needs me.
Memorable Moment
My most memorable moments at HDS range from the many, many thought-provoking questions that arose from our studies as well as the wonderful social events HDS students held to support community and wholistic learning outside of the classroom.
Favorite Class or Professor
This is a tough one. It is a four-way tie among "Birds in Religion and Mythology" taught by Professor Kimberley Patton, "Can We Still Read Religious Classics? An Inquiry with Christian, Hindu, and Confucian Classics" taught by Father Frank Clooney, "Religion in Healing and Medicine" taught by Professor Gloria White-Hammond, and "Quests for Wisdom: Religious, Moral, and Aesthetic Experiences in the Art of Living in Perilous Times" taught by professors Davíd Carrasco, Arthur Kleinman, and Stephanie Paulsell. All these wonderful professors have ignited my desire to think more deeply and profoundly, helping me realize that there are no limits to my imagination both academically and personally. I am forever grateful for these and my other teachers and mentors for their wisdom, courage, and overall willingness to help lead us all towards the greatest good.
Message of Thanks
I would like to thank God, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my parents, my sister, my professors and mentors, my family, and the HDS community. You all have elicited much hope and faith in me and my abilities, and I could not have done it without all your support and love.
What I Hope to Be Remembered By
My love for Jesus and humanity, my generosity, and my endless pursuit of knowledge, wisdom, and VERITAS.
Future Plans
I plan to continue my academic pursuits and cultivate knowledge and wisdom in the everyday. My ultimate goal is to teach religion as a professor and be as helpful and courteous to my students as all of my former mentors were to me.
