Profile
Since completing his PhD in 2024 under the Committee on the Study of Religion at Harvard University, Daniel Frim has served as a lecturer in Harvard’s Folklore and Mythology program. He is a student of oral literature in the indigenous Kwak’wala language of coastal British Columbia, and of rabbinic literature from late antiquity. His research focuses on the structure and style of oral-traditional texts, and on what such texts can tell us regarding ideologies of ritual. In his current role as a lecturer, he has taught courses on Jewish magic and folklore; on the indigenous oral literatures of the Northwest Coast of North America; on the folklore of elves and UFOs; and on theoretical approaches to folklore, mythology, and oral literature.
